Gov. Togiola to travel tomorrow with
delegation to Samoa Talks in Apia
(UTULEI) - Governor Togiola Tulafono will lead the American Samoa delegation tomorrow for Samoa Talks in Apia scheduled for Friday, September 21 and Saturday, September 22.
The annual inter-Samoa meeting will be held at the Development Bank Building in the heart of Apia and will include counterparts of both governments.
Governor Togiola said he always looks forward to the meeting of the Two Samoa because it brings together the two governments to review progress, raise and discuss issues of mutual interest and concern between the Samoas.
“It’s always productive when we get together with Prime Minister Tuilaepa Sailele Malielegaoi and his representatives because it is the forum where we discuss issues and ways to improve the lives of our respective constituencies,” said Governor Togiola. “Through mutual cooperation and our collaborative efforts, both of our governments will benefit and so will our respective citizens.”
Joining Governor Togiola at the two-day meeting will be Attorney General Fepulea’i Afa Ripley Jr., Marine & Wildlife Resources Director Ufagafa Ray Tulafono, ASPA CEO Andra Samoa, Deputy Director of Commerce Lelei Peau, Deputy Commissioner of Public Safety Filifa’atali Mike Fuiava, Deputy Director of ASTCA Alex Sene Jr., Chief Immigration Officer Ufuti Fa’afetai Ieremia and representatives from other government departments and agencies.
"It’s indeed an honor to participate in the meeting of our two governments every year,” said Governor Togiola. “It’s always a worthwhile meeting as both sides discuss the hopes and expectations of each government. We have a positive agenda in meeting our needs in the discussion of many very important issues to all of us. I look forward to a very productive meeting.”
Governor Togiola will return to the Territory on Saturday afternoon.
