White Sunday Message from Gov. Togiola &
Lt. Gov. Ipulasi and families
(UTULEI) – Acting Governor Ipulasi Aitofele Sunia, on behalf of Governor Togiola Tulafono and their respective families, today issued the annual White Sunday message for the Territory.
The following is the official text of the Governor’s Message for White Sunday 2007:
Governor’s Message for White Sunday 2007
“Our Children Hold A Special Place In Our Lives”

The greatest success any parent can hope to achieve is to raise healthy and happy children. And it is in the hearts and minds of every parent to build a bright future for all their children because our children hold a special place in our lives.
As we celebrate White Sunday this year, and every year, we, as parents and grandparents, join aunties and uncles, the extended family, the school, the church, the village and our island community, to celebrate our children.
Traditionally, for most of American Samoa, this Sunday provides us with an opportunity to create a festive day for our children, all dressed in white, to present the Scripture readings, sermon, prayers, plays, music and memory verses during our respective church services.
Now, White Sunday is more than that. It is a day to remind us to cherish and value each child in our lives. Whether it is your very own, your niece, your nephew, or your neighbor’s child. It is a special day that allows us to celebrate and show our love for our children not only through our words, but also through creating a special bond that helps us expand and reinforce the strengths of our children.
Showing our love for our children includes making the tough decisions and important investments necessary to give our children the opportunity to achieve their dreams.
On behalf of my wife - Mary, Lieutenant Governor Ipulasi, Mrs. Elisapeta Sunia, and all our children and grandchildren, we wish all the children and families of American Samoa a very happy, blessed and safe White Sunday. Ia manuia le Lotu a Tamaiti.”
