Gov. Togiola urges cooperation with search of Immigration Offices in
Utulei and Tafuna Airport

(UTULEI) – Governor Togiola Tulafono today issued the following statement regarding the search by law enforcement authorities at the Immigration Offices in Utulei and Pago Pago International Airport.

STATEMENT

Governor Togiola Tulafono and Attorney General Fepulea’i Arthur Ripley, Jr. are urging cooperation with the search being conducted by law enforcement authorities at the Immigration Offices in Utulei and at Tafuna International Airport. The search is being conducted pursuant to a warrant signed by District Court Judge John Ward II on January 6, 2010.

The warrant was served on attorneys in the Office of the Attorney General and full cooperation is being provided to the officers conducting the search.

We will continue to cooperate with any valid orders of the Court. It is our hope that the search be conducted swiftly so that the Immigration Office may resume their services to the general public.

At present, the Immigration Office is closed and will remain so until the search is complete. The Office of the Attorney General will prepare and implement a plan for providing services in the interim. The public will be apprised at appropriate intervals of any developments.
