New Election Office to be erected in Tafuna

A grant from the Help America Vote Act will fund the erection of a new Election Office in Tafuna, at the location of what is now the former Territorial Energy Office where demolition work began this past weekend.

Workers were seen tearing down the Territorial Energy Office which was built in the late 1980s to serve as a model for energy efficient home construction.

Currently, the Election Office is housed in Utulei next to the Social Services compound.

The new Election Office will be constructed by APECS Construction Company and work is expected to be completed just in time for the 2008 general elections set to take place next November.

The new structure will feature a two-story building.
