Seven cops from the Department of Public Safety have been certified to operate police motorcycles after undergoing and successfully passing the mandatory month-long training under Capt. Taase Sagapolutele and Lt. Ray Noa.
The seven police officers, comprised of two veterans and five rookies include: Filemoni Amituana’i, Aukuso Lafaele, Hesedh Sopoaga, Siaosi Siuloa Jr., Phillip Veleghe, Soosooalii Savali, and Mareko Fulu.
The new motorcyclists were recognized and presented with certificates by DPS Commissioner Sotoa Savali during a brief ceremony held at the Office of Motor Vehicles (OMV) compound in Tafuna.
Sotoa said that the certification is a wonderful thing for the local police department, as now in addition to patrol cars, (which are limited), there will be more cops patrolling the territory via motorcycles.
