San Diego State University graduates 25 ASG employees with M.A. in Education
(UTULEI: Friday, January 29, 2010) – Governor Togiola Tulafono today gave the commencement address for the San Diego State University (SDSU) Fall 2009 graduation at Governor H. Rex Lee Auditorium (Fale Laumei) in Utulei.
Gov. Togiola congratulates 35 UH Cohort graduates; “Excel For Success”
(UTULEI) – Governor Togiola Tulafono today congratulated 35 teachers who completed their Bachelor of Education (BEd) and Master of Education (MEd) studies in the University of Hawai‘i cohort program in American Samoa -- a preparation program for the training of elementary school teachers.
In a ceremony at Governor H. Rex Lee Auditorium (Fale Laumei) in Utulei, Governor Togiola expressed his sincere gratitude to the graduates (26 received BEd in Elementary Education and 9 received MEd in Curriculum Studies) for successfully obtaining their degrees and they can now utilize their skills and capabilities to ensure that the children of the Territory have confidence and eagerness to learn.
First Lady Mary Ann honors 14 nursing graduates
(UTULEI) – First Lady Mary Ann Tulafono today delivered the keynote address at the 2009 Nurses Graduation Ceremony, which was held at Governor H. Rex Lee Auditorium (Fale Laumei) in Utulei.
With the graduation theme of “Ave Lo’u Ola Ia Aoga” [Take My Life and Let It Be Useful], First Lady Mary Ann told the 14 graduates (3 Registered Nurses and 11 Practical Nurses) of the American Samoa Community College (ASCC) Nursing Department to hold their theme close to their hearts.
Gov. Togiola Gov. Togiola honors Teachers of the Year
(UTULEI) – Governor Togiola Tulafono tonight joined in celebration to honor all of the teachers of the year of American Samoa at a Department of Education dinner held at Governor H. Rex Lee Auditorium (Fale Laumei) in Utulei.
Mrs. Merwyden “Jewel” Sulua’i of Matafao Elementary School in Faga’alu was selected Territorial Teacher of the Year 2010, which was chosen from winners of six divisions (Early Childhood Education, Manu’a Tele/Vocational Education, East, Mid-West, West and Central).
First Runner Up was Gingerlei Maga-Uili of Lauli’i Elementary School.
Governor Togiola and First Lady Mary Ann Tulafono took part in the celebration along with Rev. Ned Ripley, pastor of CCCAS Fagatogo, who also serves as Chairman of the Scholarship Board, Education Director Dr. Claire Poumele, and administrators, teachers and school staff.

(UTULEI) – Governor Togiola Tulafono today told 137 graduates of Faga’itua High School “when you are overwhelmed with pride due to your accomplishments and other accolades you have gained throughout your journey, it is hard to control.”

(UTULEI) – Governor Togiola Tulafono today, as commencement speaker at Leone High School, told the 179 graduates that events in their lives are predetermined, but still require hard work.

(UTULEI) – Governor Togiola Tulafono today told the 282 graduates of Tafuna High School it is time to reshape the dream because American Samoa has become “less of a strategic asset to America, in spite of patriotism and human sacrifice, for the protection of American interests, freedom and peace.”

(UTULEI) – Governor Togiola Tulafono today in his commencement address to the 235 graduates of Samoana High School said it is time to make good choices on good fuel that will keep the flame alive.

Gov. Togiola: “Miracles comes with hard, honest work”; NPTHS grads 58
(UTULEI) – Governor Togiola Tulafono today was the commencement speaker at the graduation ceremony of Nu’uuli Poly Technical High School.
In his keynote speech at the Kanana Fou Gymnasium in Tafuna, Governor Togiola told the fifty-eight Nu’uuli Poly Tech graduates that if they believe and have faith, miracles will happen for them.
Gov. Togiola at SPA graduation: “Plan to give back to your families and community”
(UTULEI) – Governor Togiola Tulafono, who returned to American Samoa last night, today attended the graduation ceremony of South Pacific Academy, which was held at the Pago West Stake Center of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Malaeimi.
At the commencement exercises for SPA’s 16 high school students, Governor Togiola told the graduates to “plan to give back to their families and their communities.”
