Gov. Togiola in Washington DC for host of meetings,
to return to AS on March 6th

 

(UTULEI) – Lieutenant Governor Ipulasi Aitofele Sunia today announced that Governor Togiola Tulafono arrived this morning in Washington DC to attend meetings, which include the National Governors Association (NGA) Winter Meeting.

While in the nation’s capital as part of the NGA Centennial celebration, Governor Togiola will also meet with Secretary of the Interior – Mr. Dirk Kempthorne, and take part in the annual meeting of the Interagency Group on Insular Areas (IGIA), the U.S. Coral Reef Task Force winter meeting, the U.S. Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources hearing and will meet with U.S. Senator Daniel K. Inouye (D-HI).

“I am very happy to inform the people of the Territory that Governor Togiola’s health has improved tremendously and that it has allowed him to travel to attend a host of meetings in Washington DC,” said Lieutenant Governor Ipulasi. “The Governor and First Lady Mary Ann Tulafono express their sincere gratitude to all the people of American Samoa for your prayers and best wishes. They look forward to returning home very soon after follow-up doctor’s appointments in Honolulu early next week.”

Governor Togiola and the First Lady are scheduled to return to the Territory on Thursday, March 6th.
