Lt. Gov. Ipulasi statement on Gov. Togiola’s steady recovery in Hawai’i

(UTULEI) – Lieutenant Governor Ipulasi Aitofele Sunia today issued the following statement regarding the steady recovery of Governor Togiola Tulafono at Tripler Army Medical Center in Honolulu, Hawaii.

STATEMENT
“Today, as we join the nation and the Territory to honor the life and work of civil rights leader Rev. Martin Luther King Jr., I am pleased to inform the people of American Samoa that Governor Togiola Tulafono’s health continues to improve. The Governor has sat up and taken a few steps in his hospital room and he remains under the close care of the doctors at Tripler.

I have been in contact with Governor Togiola and First Lady Mary Ann, and they extend their appreciation and gratitude to the people and leaders of American Samoa for their prayers and kind support shown since he was first admitted to the hospital.

They also wish to thank the many communities in Hawai’i, leaders across the U.S. and abroad, and our men and women serving in the armed forces for their thoughts and words of encouragement.

The Governor’s full recovery remains a top priority for the Office of the Governor as well as the leaders of the Territory.
I ask all of American Samoa to continue to pray for Governor Togiola’s health as he continues to improve in Hawai’i.”
