(UTULEI) – Lieutenant Governor Ipulasi Aitofele Sunia officially welcomed Congresswoman Donna Christensen of the U.S. Virgin Islands to American Samoa in a brief ceremony at the airport tonight.
Lieutenant Governor Ipulasi, who arrived from Honolulu on the same flight, expressed his sincere gratitude to Congresswoman Christensen, chair of the U.S. House Subcommittee on Insular Affairs, for visiting the Territory.
“On behalf of Governor Togiola, I am deeply honored and thankful that you have taken the opportunity to travel with our distinguished Member of Congress – Faleomavaega Eni to conduct a hearing on the urgent need for remedial legislation addressing the minimum wage increases that Congress has mandated for the Territory,” said Lieutenant Governor Ipulasi. “It is our hope that your brief stay in our island home will be a pleasant one, as you are no stranger to this wonderful island life. I am sure that the testimonies that your committee will hear, will echo a common and collective cry of the territories and the unique situations that we face as island communities. Talofa and welcome to American Samoa.”
