Territorial Prayer Breakfast Day, February 6th, church service in Faga’alu

(UTULEI) – Acting Governor Fepulea’i Afa Ripley today joined Chief Justice Michael Kruse, Senate President Lolo Moliga, House Speaker Savali Talavou Ale, legislators and members of the Cabinet for the second annual Territorial Prayer Breakfast at the Congregational Christian Church in Faga’alu.
Designated by Governor Togiola Tulafono in February 2007 through Executive Order making the first Wednesday after the first day of the month of February every year as the day for the Territorial Prayer Breakfast, the church service brought together government and church leaders “to pray together for peace and prosperity for all of mankind, for our Territorial and National leaders, and for the leaders of the many nations of the world so that God may continue to grant the people of American Samoa and the citizens of the world freedom and peace everlasting.”
The Territorial Prayer Breakfast church service was led by Rev. Latu Amani, Chair of the Methodist Church Synod of Tutuila, with Rev. Ameto Lemana (Nu’uuli Catholic Parish), Rev. Pesaleli Poufa (CCCAS Atu’u) and Rev. Oianata’i Matale (Methodist Church, Susana Uesele) as concelebrants. Rev. Malaki Timu (Pago Pago Catholic Parish) presented the sermon.
Also in attendance were PC Mauga Tasi Asuega (Secretary of Samoan Affairs) and HC Gaoteote Tapatonu (Eastern District Governor) and legislators: Senators Sega Atoe, Fa’amausili Mau Jr., and Muagututi’a Dr. Vaiula Tuato’o; Representatives Atualevao Gafatasi Afalava, Leapai Sipa Anoa’i, Fetu Fetui, Fiasili Puni Haleck, Puletuimalo Dick Koko, Vaito’a Hans Langkilde, Tali Ma’ae, Taotasi Archie Soliai, Manu Talamoa, Mary Lauagaia M. Taufete’e and Tagaloa Toloa Letuli.

Hymns and praise were sung by the CCCAS Faga’alu, Methodist Susana Uesele and Nu’uuli Catholic Parish choirs.
