(UTULEI) – Lieutenant Governor Ipulasi Aitofele Sunia dedicated the completion of the Taputimu Village Loop Road at a ceremony today.

The $328,000 road project is a 5,000 foot, two-lane road off the main road of the village on the seaward side. It was fully funded by the Department of the Interior.

Lieutenant Governor Ipulasi expressed his sincere gratitude to the village of Taputimu for their support of the project, which took six months to build.

“I wish to say on behalf of Governor Togiola Tulafono, who sends his greetings and best wishes while he is recuperating well in Honolulu, that we have come together to dedicate the successful completion of this very special road construction for Taputimu, and we thank God and the Department of Interior for the funding. God’s blessings and the funding go hand in hand,” said Lieutenant Governor Ipulasi. “This wonderful Village Loop Road is part of a program of projects that will meet the needs of the traveling public. Our residents have had to endure hardship and hazards that are associated with an inadequate road system that is under-designed to meet the growing needs of our population.”

Lieutenant Governor Ipulasi also offered his sincere appreciation to the U.S. Department of Interior for their solid financial support in these very important series of projects that has enhanced safety and economic development in the Territory.

“I would like to commend the Department of Public Works on all the work they have accomplished and I extend my best wishes to RM Construction for a safe and timely completion in the construction of this very important road project.”

The total cost of the project was $328,241 and it took six months to complete.

Mrs. Elisapeta Sunia, wife of Lieutenant Governor Ipulasi, had the honor of cutting the ribbon at the ceremony.
