All ASG departments urged to participate in Territorial Christmas Program
Governor Togiola Tulafono is urging all American Samoa Government departments and agencies to “fully participate” in the 2008 Territorial Christmas Program, scheduled to take place from December 17-19.
(This precedes the annual Holiday Music Festival, sponsored by the American Samoa Arts Council and scheduled to take place on December 21 and 22 at the Fagatogo Pavilion).
The annual Territorial Christmas Program has been sponsored by the government since 1997 during the first term of the Tauese administration, in which Togiola served as Lt. Governor.
A November 19 memo states that each department/agency is to provide a 10-minute presentation of Christmas carols and/or skits. Some departments and agencies will begin rehearsing for the big event beginning next week, with smaller offices combining with others for joint presentations.
Togiola said the Christmas program has always been the highlight of our island Christmas season. “It has become a wonderful opportunity to rejoice in the many blessings we enjoy as an island community through joyful celebration in song, dance, skits, and plays of the festive season,” he wrote.
“Your cooperation is greatly appreciated and will contribute to a successful island celebration of the birth of our Savior Jesus Christ. He is the reason for the season,” he added.
