DOE’s E-Rate program gets funding for current year
The Department of Education’s E-Rate Program has secured funding for the current year, after the administrator of the E-Rate Program, Universal Service Administrative Company (USAC), approved the release of $777,240 to cover the E-Rate services provided by Blue Sky Communications for DOE for the current funding year (Year 10).
Even better, USAC is reportedly already looking at DOE’s Year 11 funding application.
Several weeks ago, USAC approved the release of $3.7 million to cover E-Rate services that were provided by the American Samoa Telecommunications Authority (ASTCA) for DOE for 2005 and 2006.
Blue Sky Communications’ Chief Operating Officer (COO) Li’a Tufele Jr. said that Blue Sky and its staff are “very appreciative” for the opportunity to provide these critical telecommunications services to the local schools, and especially the children of American Samoa.
Tufele Jr. also expressed his gratitude to what he called the “hard work” of the Director of Education Dr. Claire Poumele, the DOE staff, and everyone who was involved on both the local and federal level, which made it possible for the E-Rate program to secure funding for the current year.
