ASDRO applies to FEMA for Hazard Mitigation Grant Program Funding

The American Samoa Disaster Relief Office (ASDRO) has applied to the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) for Hazard Mitigation Grant Program Funding.

ASDRO’s intentions are to reduce the flood hazard along Lealao’o Stream, Metro Stream, and ANZ Stream by excavating and constructing concrete box drainages along approximately 675 linear feet of Lealao’o Stream, 275 linear feet of Metro Stream, and 875 linear feet of ANZ Stream.

Construction would occur during the seasonally dry months (April through October).

FEMA has prepared a Draft Environmental Assessment (DEA) for the proposed project, pursuant to the National Environmental Policy Act and FEMA’s implementing regulations.

The DEA, which evaluates the environmental impacts of the proposed projects and is available for public review and comment, is available online at: www.fema.gov/plan/ehp/envdocuments/ea-region9.shtm.

A copy of the DEA may also be viewed at the following location:
