Treasury report details savings in certain ASG departments and
funding sources
The Monthly Financial Overview Report for local funds for February 2008 submitted by ASG Treasurer Gaea Perefoti Failautusi to Governor Togiola Tulafono shows that while overall expenditures exceeded revenues for that month, about half of ASG departments, agencies, and funding sources managed to decrease their spending compared to the same time last year.
The Territorial Administration on Aging (TAOA), the American Samoa Environmental Protection Agency (ASEPA), and the Airport were the only three agencies that did not spend any local funds in both February 2007 and February 2008.
Notable drops in expenditures came from Legal Affairs, which spent $317,740 last February and dropped down to only $178,086 last month, and Public Works which spent $529,092 in February 2007 but only expended $489,744 last month.
Impressively, the biggest savings came from “miscellaneous” spending which dropped to zero last month after costing ASG $223,203 last February.
