Governor Lemanu P. S. Mauga attended the 61st Celebration of Samoa’s Independence and Flag Raising Ceremony on June 1st, 2023 at the Malae o Tiafau in Mulinu’u. The ceremony began at 6:00 am upon the arrival of His Highness Tuimalealiifano Vaaletoa Sualauvi II, Head of State. Dignitaries from various Pacific Island Nations attended as well as the United States Congresswoman Aumua Amata Radewagen. The flag raising ceremony was followed by a colorful parade of various schools, government agencies, organizations, members of the communities and private sectors of the Independent State of Samoa. An official luncheon and cultural entertainment followed thereafter.
Swains Island 98th Anniversary Celebration
On May 11, 2023, the Governor of American Samoa, Honorable Lemanu P.S. Mauga led a delegation traveling to Swains Island to celebrate the 98th anniversary since Swains Island was annexed by the United States of America and became a part of American Samoa. The delegation included several directors and a few members of the Swains Island community living in Tutuila.

Lemanu-Talauega Administration Prepares for Swains Flag Day
The American Samoa Government deployed a thirty three man team led by Representative Su’a Alex Eli Jennings, on a two hundred-mile journey to the Swains Island.The team departed the service wharf in Fagatogo after careful review of the manifest and safety briefings from the Department of Port Administration Acting Director Tumua Matu’u and her staff.

Key Leader Engagement Part I: INDOPACOM
On April 28, 2023, the Honorable Governor Lemanu P. S. Mauga met with the leadership of the U.S Indo-Pacific command, Lieutenant General Stephen D. Sklenka & Chief of Staff Major General Joshua M. Rudd on real world situations. Included in the roundtable discussion were Phillip N. Waldron Command Master Chief U.S. Coast Guard 17th District, Mr. David J. Ranz Senior Foreign Policy Advisor to United States Indo-Pacific Command, Ms. Rebekah Laurion (J2) Senior Analyst at Defense Intelligence Agency, and other staff members.
Key Leader Engagement Part II: CINCPAC
Two of American Samoans service men and women helped coordinate this meeting with the leaders of INDOPACOM. Mr. Henry Jessop, Senior Operations Lead with a demonstrated history of working in the military management industry; Major Jennifer Kelley is a Strategy and Policy officer at INDOPACOM with ancestral ties in Fagasa.
Honorable Governor Lemanu P. S. Mauga met with the U.S. Pacific Fleet Deputy Commander, Rear Admiral Blake L. Converse and Foreign Policy Advisor to the Commander, Noah Zaring. Admiral Sam Paparo of the United States Navy met briefly with the Honorable Governor and delegation before proceeding to a concurrent meeting.
